Absolute Radio has launched its Rock Off app, a ‘beat the intro’-style music game for iOS. The app challenges users to be the fastest to identify a song, selected from the music Absolute plays, from a short clip.
Times can be shared via Facebook or Twitter, or saved to an online leaderboard. Alternatively, Rock Off can be played multiplayer, either by passing the phone around, or by connecting multiple devices wirelessly.
The free app comes with 25 preloaded tracks – hardly a challenging breadth of materials, so the game will need to rely on its freemium business model to extend its lifespan. Users can buy additional decade-specific song bundles, linked to Absolute’s 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s digital stations, for 69p a pop.
