Acuity Hires Privacy Expert

Acuity Mobile, which provides targeted mobile content delivery technology, has appointed Alan Chapell to the role of Executive Advisor. Chapell also joins the Acuity Board. Chapell will advise Acuity on the latest issues surrounding the privacy of mobile users, with the goal of protecting the consumers user experience and supporting continued adoption of mobile marketing applications by users and wireless service providers.
Chapell is recognised as an industry leader on issues of privacy in mobile ecosystems and interactive media. Currently serving as Chairman of the Legislative and Consumer Affairs Subcommittee of the DMAs Interactive Marketing Advisory Board, he is also Chairman of the New York City chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Associations (MMA) Privacy and Preferences Committee, and a member of the MMAs Consumer Best Practices Committee. He previously founded the privacy program at Jupiter Research and also directed Jupiters marketing, sales and compliance operations.
For consumers to accept mobile marketing sent to their phones, they must have confidence that their privacy is protected, says Chapell. Acuity Mobile is a leader in mobile content delivery, and has a unique vision for mobile advertising that ensures offers are relevant and appropriate, while also protecting proprietary information. I look forward to working with them on advancing their approach to mobile content delivery and to protecting the nascent adoption of mobile offers by consumers.
Acuity President and Co-founder Alan Sultan adds:
We are delighted to add Alan as a board member. Acuity Mobile believes that the incredible power of mobile advertising what we call Spot Relevance will be squandered without the utmost respect for the user experience and for consumer privacy. Alans experience will bring valuable business insight that will be essential as we work to further strengthen our market position and provide content solutions to our customers.
