Ad-free YouTube Coming in October?

YouTube Music KeyYouTube is preparing to launch its subscription service, which enables users to access the video site without ads.

The long-discussed service, which according to Android Police will be named YouTube Red, could launch within the next month.

A YouTube email, shared by Recode, asks content owners to agree to new terms and conditions in support of the launch by 22 October, apparently supporting industry sources claims that the service will launch near the end of October.

“If you haven’t signed by that date, your videos will no longer be available for public display or monetization in the United States,” reads the email, possibly indicating that the launch will initially be US-only.

YouTube Red – or whatever the service ends up being called – will reportedly cost $10 a month, including the ad-free Music Key service which launched in a closed beta last November but has yet to roll out more widely. Notably, thats only slightly more than the $7.99 Music Key was originally tipped to cost.
