The Freelancer.co.uk Fast50 survey looks at job postings to show the 50 fastest-moving technology projects, culled from 190,000 jobs posted on its network. The number of jobs posted to create iPhone apps increased by 30 per cent to 5,112 new jobs, compared to Android, which also rose, but only by 20 per cent, with 3,444 new jobs posted.
In the first quarter, jobs related to iPhone apps were up 27 per cent and Android up 26 per cent. iPad jobs accelerated even faster, increasing from 19 per cent to 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter to 2,308 jobs on the back of the new iPad 2. Generic mobile jobs increased by 36 per cent to 5,709.
“Two clear trends are evident,” notes Freelancer.co.uk chief executive, Matt Barrie. “Firstly, user activity is moving to mobile devices and the trend won’t be reversing any time soon as the other 5bn people on this planet join the internet, primarily through mobile.”
