Awards Countdown: Check out Nimbletanks big winner from last year

The countdown is on to our 2017 Effective Mobile Marketing Awards, with the final deadline for entries just six weeks away on Friday 4 August, and our Early Bird deadline two weeks earlier on Friday 21 July.

In the lead-up to the closing date, we’ll be profiling some of last year’s winning entries, to give you some idea of the high standard of mobile-first campaigns and solutions that we’ve seen in the past, and what you can expect from this year’s crop of nominations.

Nimbletank’s work with music service Kobalt, which enables music creators and artists to see where their money is being made, made a big impact at the Awards last year. The app won Most Effective Mobile-first Service, Most Effective B2B App and Most Effective Tablet App, and also picked up a Highly Commended award for Most Effective Entertainment Campaign.

The app provides musicians with real-time data on their earned revenues, breaking information down to the level of individual songs, country or other factors, all with an easy-to-use and intuitive UI. Kobalt has earned praise from the music press and artists, including Jonny Quinn of Snow Patrol and Gary Go, songwriter and producer for artists such as Rihanna and Take That. More importantly, it has produced fantastic results on all its KPIs.

“I think it’s really important we celebrate effectiveness,” said David Skerrett, managing partner at Nimbletank. “I think there’s lots of shiny video, shiny apps, made up statistics in our industry, regretfully, and I think when we really have a hard-nosed look at the impact we’ve made to businesses through the power of mobile, that’s when we can all celebrate, and I think these Awards do it better than any others.”

Since winning the award, Kobalt has continued to go from strength to strength, signing deals with multiple new artists and record labels, including the Grammy Award-winning GroupUP Music, and completing a $75m (£58m) Series D funding round led by Heartst Entertainment.

Other winners from last year include Levi’s, Santander, OMD, Mindshare, Celtra, Paramount Pictures and Virgin Media. Entering this year’s Awards couldn’t be easier: just register here, choose the categories you wish to compete in, and upload your entries.

The winners will be announced in a lavish ceremony on 16 November at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London, in what promises to be one of the highlights of the year for the mobile marketing industry. Check out pictures from last year’s Awards Ceremony here, and video from the event here.

We look forward to receiving your entries, and hope you’ll be joining us for the ceremony.
