windows-phone-app-store.pngMobile payments company Bango has acquired the US-based carrier billing firm BilltoMobile in a deal worth $3.5m (£2.4m) as it aims to expand is presence in the North American market, both in app stores and with online retailers.

BilltoMobile is currently the only operator service integrated into all four major US mobile operators, covering over 300m connections and processing billing payments for app stores and merchants including Google Play and Microsoft.

Bango is one of the leading suppliers of carrier billing for global app stores and by streamlining the process of digital payments, aims to help digital merchants and app stores increase their revenues. It has worked extensively with BilltoMobile in the past.

The deal will see these customers able to take advantage of Bangos Bango Boost technology, which has driven revenue gains for its existing partners elsewhere in the world. Mobile networks have seen increases in mobile revenues between 20 and 70 per cent after adopting Bango Boost technology.

“Bango has worked with BilltoMobile as the leading provider of carrier billing in the US for five years,” said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango. “It is exciting to combine powerful Bango technology with BilltoMobiles high quality service offerings for US merchants and its trusted operator relationships. This development creates a significant additional growth opportunity for Bango and its app store partners.”
