BlackBerry Launches WebWorks App Contest

BlackBerry-maker RIM is now accepting entries for its competition to find the most innovative WebWorks app for the PlayBook and BlackBerry 6 platforms. 

The contest is running as part of the companys 2011 BlackBerry Developer Challenge. The competition for Best Flash/AIR Mobile app for BlackBerry PlayBook has already opened. 

New and existing apps are eligable to compete for the $3m (£1.85m) total prize money pot. Each competition will have one Grand Prize Winner, one First Runner-Up, and one Second Runner-Up for each region, making a total of 12 prizes in all.

An additional category (Most addictive social app using the BBM Social Platform) will also be open for entries later this summer, says RIM.
