B&Q Takes Loyalty Mobile

David Murphy

B&Q is taking its loyalty program mobile with the launch of its B&Q Club app for iPhone and Android. The app, created by Grapple, enables the existing 690,000 B&Q Club members and new members to access exclusive offers in store. To do so, they show their phone to a member of staff, who then inputs their 16-digit unique number in order to present the customer with any offers they are entitled to. B&Q says it will introduce new point of sales scanners into its store later this year that will enable  the unique number to be scanned direct from the phone. In the form of a barcode.

Club members who have opted in will be notified by push notifications via the app of new offers exclusive to club members. These offers can be shared with friends on Twitter or Facebook directly through the app. In addition, every time a club members shops in store and their unique barcode on their mobile is captured, they are automatically entered into a monthly prize draw with the chance to win £10,000. In addition until this Sunday, there is a chance to win a further one-off £30,000 cash payment. The app also features a B&Q store locator.

“We are acutely aware of how our customers are feeling the pinch, and this (app) is one way in which we can reward their loyalty and help make that hard earned cash go a little further,” said Steve Clark, financial & business services general manager at B&Q.
