Meat supplier Butterball has relaunched its Cookbook Plus app in preparation for US Thanksgiving later this month, incorporating food safety tips and shopping guides into the application.

The company is the largest producer of turkey products in the US, and produces more than 1bn pounds of turkey each year. It is well known for its annual hotline which provides callers with advice on preparing their Thanksgiving meals.

The redesigned app, available on iOS and Android, collects hundreds of recipes, sortable by ingredient, theme or product, all of which can be bookmarked and shared through social media. In addition, it provides users with cooking tools like conversion charts, cooking calculators and nutritional information.

The app also enables users to access how-to videos on turkey selection, cooking and carving, as well as delivering promotional offers from Butterball and its partners.

“Butterball consistently searches for ways to meet consumers where they are that means providing relevant information to an increasingly mobile society,” said Kimberly Metts, manager of consumer promotions for Butterball. “The redesigned Butterball app now allows consumers who use a variety of different operating systems to take advantage of our turkey expertise no matter what device they use.”
