The system will give car owners and passengers access to content such as maps, music and internet radio.
Israeli telco Accel Telecom has launched the Voyager, a smartphone specifically designed to be used as in-car connected device. The Voyager, which is fixed onto the dashboard and powered by the car battery, uses a twin SIM – a second SIM card on the same account and phone number as the user’s primary handset.

Vodafone has unveiled a number of advanced M2M technologies for smart meters and smart homes the at Metering, Billing/CRM Europe 2012 event in Amsterdam.
Vodafone unveiled its solution for the remote monitoring of solar panels using a live portal, presenting performance and energy efficiency data in easy-to-access reports.
I spent part of the afternoon at the Google Campus just round the corner from our offices. Today is the final of the Western Europe and Eastern Europe regional finals of the 2012 QPrize competition, run by Qualcomm Ventures.
Operator revenues generated from mobile roaming will exceed $80bn by 2017, according to a report from Juniper Research. This equates to almost eight per cent of operator billed revenues by 2017.

Ever since Mobile Marketing Live ended on Tuesday, a lot of people have asked me how the event went, and try as I might, it’s difficult to offer an unbiased opinion. So I was delighted to stumble across an independent analysis of the two days penned by Andrew Lockley, a business angel who invests in web marketing startups. He’s also an environmentalist and geo-engineering researcher.
It’s the morning after the day before here at Mobile Marketing Towers, and we have to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated in Mobile Marketing Live in any way, shape or form, whether as a delegate, sponsor, exhibitor, speaker or general Gofer, of which there were many, and all of whom helped ensure the event ran like clockwork.
Mobile technology is vital for the continued growth of British Gas in its evolution towards the connected world, and because it is how its customers are increasingly interacting with the utility.
Altogether, 24 per cent of digital interactions with British Gas are carried out on a mobile device, Neil Swanston, mobile experience manager at British Gas said, with 15 per cent of that interaction from mobile phones and 9% from apps.

Velti has closed a $27m (£17m), 2-year deal to provide its mobile marketing technology to “a major US brand”. The program is expected to break in the next few weeks, and is designed to drive increased engagement with the brand’s existing customers, with the aim of increasing loyalty.
