10m Downloads for The Weather Channel's iPad App

The Weather Channel's iPad app has broken the 10m download milestone.

The app has seen a surge in downloads, driven by the arrival of Hurricane Isaac in the US. On August 26, at the hurricane , both the iPhone and iPad versions of the app received the most downloads they've ever seen in a day. Following that, the apps had their strongest-ever four-day period.

The iPad app is the second most downloaded app on the device, according to Apple, behind just the iBooks app.

The Weather Channel app launched on iPad in 2010, shortly after the release of the device itself.
