Alcatel claims to unveil world's first Firefox phone

ONE TOUCH FIREONE TOUCH FIREJust a day after ZTE claimed to have the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Firefox OS, due to launch in the second quarter of the year, Alcatel is similarly laying claim to the mantel of first commercially available Firefox OS smartphone.

At MWC today in Barcelona the manufacturer unveiled the ONE TOUCH FIRE which it expects to be available from June. In keeping with Mozilla’s intention of appealing to developing markets with low cost handsets, the Fire is an entry-level model. It has a 3.5 inch display and a 3.2 Megapixel camera; and a 1GHz processor for smooth browsing.

Alcatel unveiled an additional pair of Smartphones. The ONE TOUCH SNAP and ONE TOUCH SNAP LTE offer a 4.6-inch display with an 8 megapixel camera (2 megapixel at the front). As the name suggests, the LTE variant is designed for use on 4G networks.
