Amazon Poised To Release More Tablets?
Amazon reportedly plans to launch more mobile devices, beyond its existing range of Kindle eReaders and Tablets. According to Staples president of US retail Demos Parneros, Amazon will launch five or six Tablets, including a 10-inch model, in order for Amazon to sell vertically to consumers through their devices, in much the same way Apple does through its iTunes store.
It's even possible that a smartphone could follow, as suggested by the online retailer's recent appointment of mobile specialists from Microsoft and other competitors. Given the impact of the Kindle on the publishing market, analysts are suggesting that an Amazon handset could work the same magic for music or other media.
In April, reporting its Q1 results - the Q2 results will follow on 26 July - Amazon chief financial officer Tom Szkutak said the Kindle Fire was spurring purchases of 'a lot' of digital content, with market share increasing in both video and music.
