Channel 4 Unveils Street Tag Graffiti App

As part of Channel 4’s Street Summer season, which showcases the most exciting, new talent from the underground, the broadcaster has commissioned a free Street Tag app that turns an iPhone into a can of spray paint.
Developed by Brothers and Sisters, Sibling in conjunction with Channel 4’s 4Creative, the app uses Augmented Reality and geo-tagging technology to create “a graffiti experience like never before”.

You can graffiti the streets in real time without fear of being arrested, on everything and anything, even those buildings you never thought possible to tag. Once you’ve finished, you can showcase your work by geo-tagging your images, displaying them on a Street Tag map for all users to visit and draw inspiration from. Alternatively you can share images via Facebook, Twitter or email.

Tags are created by using the spray mode; a multitude of spray options that allow the user to change colour, size and wetness of the paint. You can even recreate the rattling sound of shaking the can.

For the more detailed tags and art you can also create tags using your finger in the ‘Create a Tag’ mode, and save in your own personal gallery for use later.
The app is part of Channel 4’s Street Summer season which runs from 12-15 August, and which culminates in a season of programmes celebrating street art, hip hop and urban culture in the UK. Highlights include the TV premiere of Banksy’s movie, Exit Through The Gift Shop.
