Duty Calls App Helps Expectant Dads
![]()
US health insurer Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) has launched Duty Calls, a mobile app that provides support for expectant dads during the pre-natal months. HCSC hopes that the app will help to “promote healthy prenatal behavior and decrease the expectant mother’s emotional stress…linked to poor pregnancy outcomes.”
This new initiative is part of the company’s Special Beginnings maternity program that helps inform new parents on what to expect from pregnancy and offers education information and monitoring from staff members.
“Through focus groups and research, we have found that the dads were often confused during the prenatal process because they felt they lacked resources to understand how to participate,” says Paul Nutting, senior director of electronic commerce at HCSC, “The Duty Calls app addresses this concern in a unique way. We’re confident that Duty Calls will benefit expectant dads with the goal of enhancing the couple’s pre-natal experience in a variety of ways.”
The app features a countdown timer, a task-list of activities, a development capture tool with audio/visual capabilities, a knowledge library, a contraction timer, a note pad and support team access through various channels.
