Huawei's Profits Rise 33 Per Cent

Huawei's Ascend Mate, announced at CESHuawei's Ascend Mate, announced at CESHuawei is reporting revenues of ¥220.2bn for 2012, an increase of eight per cent year-on-year.

The Chinese telco's year was much stronger than 2011, with net profits rising 33 per cent to ¥15.4bn, and it's forecasting an even stronger 2013, with overall revenue projected to rise 10-12 per cent.

While a third of Huawei's revenue came from within China, where it is the fourth biggest smartphone manufacturer, 66 per cent came from outside the country – and the EMEA region in particular, which made up ¥77.4bn of its total revenues.

The OEM side of the business is still overshadowed by Huawei's infrastructure arm, which brought in 70 per cent of its revenue.
