Jiepang and Starbucks Offer Mobile Promotions for the Holidays

Chinese social networking app Jiepang is partnering with Starbucks once again to add some mobile cheer to the holiday season.
In 2011, the popular check-in app ran a mobile-based holiday discount campaign for NFC-enabled smartphones. This year, Jiepang users that check in at any Starbucks location in Shanghai, Jiangsu or Zhejiang province will earn one of four Christmas badges. When all four badges are collected, a 'Magic Wish' badge is unlocked and users can redeem a buy-one-get-one-free reward.
Every time a Jiepang user checks in at Starbucks, they can unlock a special feature, which includes sending out Starbucks holiday e-cards to friends. The customisable card can then be synced with Sina Weibo, China’s largest microblogging service.
“Sending a Christmas card to your friends via mobile should be simple and delightful,” said David Liu, founder and CEO of Jiepang. “With our newest app update, Starbucks customers can now use Jiepang to share their in-store experiences with friends across multiple social networks. We’re proud to be a mobile social media partner of Starbucks since 2010 because of our shared values for creating a great customer experience.”
