LG Passes 5m LTE Handsets

LG has sold a total 5m LTE-ready handsets - selling an additional million in the past month.

In contrast to its Korean counterpart Samsung, LG has focused on LTE handsets, which are available in a limited number of markets in the US, Japan, Korea, Europea and Asia.

LG has 10 devices on the market, and invested heavily in developing LTE patents.

"Sales of global LTE smartphones are expected to increase ten-fold this year from last year," Jong-seok Park, president and chief executive of LG Mobile Communication. "With that in mind, we are planning to introduce an even more impressive LTE line-up in the next several months, second to none.”
