Marks & Spencer Gets iOS App

Marks & Spencer, the first major high street retailer in the UK to set up a transactional mobile site, has finally rounded off its mobile offering with the launch of its first shopping app. The free iOS app enables customers to browse the M&S catalogue and purchase items directly.

It also features LBS-based store locator functionality, a built-in QR code and barcode scanner, and social media integration with Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest through the Wishlist function, which enables users to save and share chosen products.

“Customers increasingly rely on the convenience of mobile shopping, with sales increasing over 200 per cent in the last 12 months alone,” says a spokesperson for Marks & Spencer. “The new app helps put us at customers’ finger tips 24/7 – but this is just the first phase and we’ll continue to develop its features and functionality to make M&S even more convenient and accessible.”
