Smith Finder Pub App Launches for iPhone

An app that puts the historic Samuel Smith pubs of London on the map has been launched Appshh.

Smith Finder is the debut app from the company, which was founded in July 2012 to produce well-designed and useful apps for the food, drink and tourist industries.

The app is free to download for iPhone with ads but users can pay £1.99 in-app for the premium ad-free version and to unlock more features.

Users can view the pubs in a list, sort them by distance and rating, see them on a map, get directions, read Yelp reviews and see more information about the pub's history. Further details include opening hours, what games they offer and whether they are dog-friendly.

Although the in-app purchase price is higher than the standard £0.69p, the company expects fewer downloads because of its niche audience, but found it is comparable to other craft beer apps on the market.

The independent Samuel Smith pubs, famed for their low-priced beers, typically rely on word of mouth so the unofficial app should help to bring more punters in.
