TeleSign Buys London-based Routo

TeleSign, an internet fraud prevention company, has announced the acquisition of B2B SMS provider Routo for the launch of TeleSign Mobile, its new mobile messaging division.

Routo is a London-based GSMA-licensed bulk messaging network. The acquisition gives Telesign access to more operators worldwide, enabling its clients to send secure two-way SMS to their opted-in audiences. Telesign, based in LA, already has 200 clients and says it works with 18 of the top 25 consumer-facing sites in the world to help them authenticate users and prevent fraud.

Telesign says the acquisition will enable it to drive continued product innovation, including increasing the business automation services it offers via SMS, like appointment reminders.
