Use The Dog To Have A Butchers
If the current Olympics Fever has you in its grip, the Paths To Gold app may be just what you need. The app showcases some of the best the hidden East End, offering users a series of guided walks, taking in the Tower of London, then heading via cool and trendy Shoreditch (home to Mobile Marketing Towers of course), then on to the curry paradise of Brick Lane.
Users are given a traditional Cockney welcome from Pearly Queen Lorraine, filmed in Stepney's Carpenter’s Arms, comwith plete subtitles to help explain rhyming slang. Each walk includes stopping-off points, with video introductions to areas of special interest, including Spitalfields market, Canary Wharf, and a revamped High Street leading to the Olympic park.
The app is available for iOS and Android. Cllr Rania Khan, Tower Hamlets Council’s cabinet member for culture says: “The Paths to Gold app highlights the area’s rich history and its diversity. We’re the fastest growing Borough in the capital and the walks invite you to meander through the area’s incredible history, stopping off for a curry in world-famous Brick Lane, or travelling along the East End’s amazing canals."
