Wireless network software developer Devicescape has launched a proximity marketing solution to serve engagement messages directly to consumers’ smartphones at any wi-fi location.
Devicescape Engage augments pre-deployed wi-fi access points with beacon-like functionality to bring ‘immediate scale to proximity marketing’ – requiring no new hardware or infrastructure. Devicescape ensures that notifications are only delivered to consumers in locations requiring engagement.
“Brands want to engage with consumers directly in as many popular locations as possible but they have always been restricted by limited beacon availability,” said Dave Fraser, Devicescape CEO. “The great benefit of wi-fi is that it’s everywhere. Devicescape Engage delivers the beacon experience, today, across a single footprint that would take ten years and many millions of dollars to match with beacon deployment.”
Devicescape recently worked with Cancer Research UK to run a proximity engagement campaign in conjunction with World Cancer Day. Through the pairing, there was reportedly a nine per cent click through rate – and Devicescape reports in excess of 13 per cent with other commercial campaigns.
Sam McAllister, brand activation lead at Cancer Research UK, said: “World Cancer Day is about uniting every person in the nation to beat cancer sooner. We’re always trying to test new and innovative ways of engaging with our supporters and the Devicescape Engage wi-fi beacon network was a great example of this.
