glass_photosEdinburgh Airport has announced plans to equip its customer service teams with Google Glass, enabling them to access up-to-date information from anywhere in the airport.

Staff will be fed real-time flight information, language translations and information about the local area through the wearable devices optical display, allowing them to assist travelers away from traditional service desks.

Staff at Heathrow airport began using the technology earlier this year, and Edinburgh Airports welcome team are currently trialing the devices in the check-in hall to establish the best way to deploy it in their daily work.

“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve the airport experience for our passengers and the Google Glass trial is a great example of how were thinking outside the box,” said Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport. “The fact that its the first trial of its kind in a Scottish airport is exciting as it shows were leading the way in how we interact with our passengers. Over the new few months well be able to establish whether this product is suitable for an airport environment.”

Following the Google Glass becoming available in the UK at the end of June, many businesses have explored how to integrate the wearable tech into their operations, and more and more brands are finding unique ways to make use of the device.
