EE Brings 4G to Channel Tunnel

EEEE has committed to bringing superfast 4G, as well as 2G and 3G services, to the Channel Tunnel by summer 2014.

EE customers will then be able to make calls and use the internet while traveling on the 35-minute Eurostar train journey between the UK and France.

This fast deployment of 4G for trains leaving the Capital could put added pressure on Transport for London to speed up the roll out of mobile services on the Underground.

In January last year, the Greater London Authority called on TfL to offer ‘complete high-speed connectivity on its network of trains. TfL confirmed in October that it is doing feasibility studies around the deployment of mobile services but currently only offers paid-for wifi at a limited number of stations.
