Facebook Ads Outperform Other Social Networks

Facebook loginMarketers have ranked Facebook as the best social network for advertising, with 78 per cent of those surveyed saying they were either somewhat or very satisfied by the business value they have achieved through Facebook ads.

The figures come from a new study by Forrester which found that over 80 per cent of social marketers were making use of Facebook, with Twitter placing second with 60 per cent.

However, only 66 per cent ranked Twitter as satisfying, slightly ahead of YouTube (65 per cent) and behind professional-focused network LinkedIn, which achieved 68 per cent satisfaction.

Facebooks clear victory was credited to its large base of users and versatility, with services like Pinterest and Facebook-owned Instagram lagging behind, with less than 15 per cent of marketers having purchased ads on either service.

The Forrester report also suggested that, with so many business posts now involving sponsored content or advertising, any social media ad spending should be governed by a companys media team, rather than its social team, representing a shift in how central social media is to digital marketing.
