The notifications tab on Facebooks mobile app will now showcase information tailored to individual users, including weather reports and local sports results.

The rollout will occur on iOS and Android simultaneously, with US users getting access to the new feature first before it is introduced internationally.

The notification menu will be transformed from a simple list to a series of cards which can be removed or added based on your preferences, and will not necessarily be presented in chronological order.

As well as traditional notifications, the new notifications tab will include details on friends birthdays and important life events, and will also include reminders based on Pages you have liked, such as game scores for sports teams or listings for TV shows and movies.

If the user has enabled Location History, the tab will also include weather updates, local events and news that has proved popular in your area, and details on nearby places to eat.

“Every day, people use their notifications to keep up-to-date with their friends and family,” said Keith Peiris, product manager at Facebook. “Weve heard feedback that people wanted to add important information that they can easily see, all in one place.”
