Facebook Testing Interest Feeds on Mobile

Facebook Interest FeedFacebook is testing interest-based feeds in its mobile app, enabling users to swipe between updates from their friends in the main News Feed to see posts focused on a single topic.

The introduction of these feed was spotted and tweeted by Jason Stein, CEO of social media agency Laundry Service.

Steins screenshots show interests including Style, Travel and Headlines. The full range of possible interests, and how much these can be customised, is yet to be seen, though there are some clues in the features desktop release from last October, which also included Animals & Pets, Food, Health & Fitness and Sports, with users able to tweak each interest to focus on, for example, particular teams, activities or types of animal they want to hear about.

“People have told us theyd like new options to see and have conversations about more stories on Facebook around specific topics theyre interested in. So we are testing feeds for people to view different stories from people and Pages based on topic areas,” Facebook said in a statement at the time.
