Movie ticketing and information firm Fandango has wasted no time in taking advantage of Facebook’s decision to open up Facebook Messenger to third-party bots with the launch of a Fandango bot for Facebook Messenger to provide movie lovers with quick and easy access to movie information, trailers, show times, theater locations and a link to advance ticketing for all theatrical releases on Fandango from their mobile devices.
The Fandango bot was previewed at Facebook’s F8 developer conference yesterday, with plans to launch in May, in time for the start of summer movie season.
The Fandango bot for Messenger will provide easy-to-use prompts for moviegoers to quickly locate nearby theaters and the movies playing at those theaters, along with trailers, film synopses, ratings, running times, and direct access to advance ticketing on Fandango.
“We are thrilled to be the go-to moviegoer resource and ticketer on Facebook Messenger, where we can serve millions of entertainment fans on this exciting new platform,” said Paul Yanover, Fandango president. “The Fandango bot on Messenger will act like a personal concierge, helping fans instantly discover movies and nearby theaters, and for the first time, connect to all Fandango show times and ticketing through Facebook.”
