Google will not produce any further devices in its Nexus range, which has seen the company partner with third-party OEMs including LG and Samsung to create low-priced Android smartphones and tablets.

Thats according to Evan Blass, a prolific mobile industry leaker better known as Evleaks, who claims that this will be effectively replaced by Android Silver, an initiative to produce quality standardised Android hardware with a variety of OEMs, beginning in February.

Android Police reports that the Silver program will bring together several high-end devices running stock Android or similar – that is, a version of the OS that doesnt feature too many alterations or additions by the OEM – under a single umbrella with a united marketing push.

LG is the only manufacturer to have been named as a Silver partner, with a Qualcomm-powered device due to be among the first Silver devices, according to Evleaks.
