UK restaurant chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen has driven over 10,000 downloads of its app in just three days following a giveaway promotion.
The promotion gave away 500 burgers a day between 1-3 March to celebrate the brand's 15th birthday. The freebies could be claimed via a dedicated landing page, but had to be redeemed through the GBK app's wallet functionality, powered by Flypay.
Referred to as 'Gone in 68 Seconds', the campaign saw an average 22 rewards redeemed each second. It led 31,000 visitors to GBK's website – over half of them from mobile – and a 255 per cent increase in downloads of the brand's app compared to the previous week.
“'Gone in 68 Seconds' has smashed all records,” said Zoe Bloor, senior brand manager at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. “Flypay’s smart technology has made this initiative possible, enabling us to reach thousands of new customers, whilst also having the opportunity to reward our existing ones as part of our birthday celebrations.”
