GSMA Reveals Mobile Money Speaker Line-up

The GSM Association (GSMA) has revealed the speaker line-up for its Mobile Money Summit 2010 event, which takes place from 24-27 May in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Topics to be considered at the conference include  Financial agents: coverage, liquidity and profitability; Emerging Business Models; and Untapped Areas of Growth and Opportunities for Mobile.

Speakers include Antony Belpaire, General Manager, Mobile Wallet at Alcatel-Lucent; Staffan Ljung,  Director of Analytics and Payments at Ericsson; Geoff Iddison, Group Executive, e-Commerce and Mobile, at Mastercard; Richard Mwami, Head of Mobile Money at MTN Uganda; and George Held, Group Marketing Director, Products and Innovation, at Zain.

“The Mobile Money ecosystem continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, creating fresh opportunities and introducing new participants across the entire value chain,” says Gavin Krugel, Director, Mobile Money, at the GSMA. “More than ever, the Mobile Money Summit is an important platform for discussion and showcasing the latest developments and solutions in this rapidly evolving and dynamic marketplace.”

Each morning before the main conference session, there will be free Mobile Money Accelerator Classes, with content tailored to that days conference topics.  Bankable Frontier Associates will be hosting the Executive Regulatory Training for Mobile Operators event, a one-day, invitation-only workshop held on Monday 24 May, which explores how to assess the available mobile money business models, understand the regulatory environment, and choose the best model for a given country. On the last day of the event, the GSMAs invitation-only Leadership Forum will bring together a large number of decision makers from mobile operators and Central Banks to discuss how to remove regulatory hurdles for mobile money.
