Mobile marketing firm Incentivated has launched a Whitepaper entitled: How To Build Your Mobile Site.
The Whitepaper notes that it is important to acknowledge that the mobile arena introduces new layers of complexity that can be difficult for ordinary web developers to accommodate. Not only do developers need to focus on supporting multiple browsers, they also need to recognise the existence of the mobile network operator and the idiosyncrasies that this raises.
The document considers the factors that need to be addressed in building a mobile site, including the different development approaches available; developing for cross-platform compatibility; device detection and redirection; mobile site coding standards; and designing to the handset’s capabilities. Implementation, testing, and statistical reporting are also covered.
