Infographic: How the World Cup Affected eCommerce Sales

In Germany, winner of the 2014 World Cup, saw an average 75 per cent increase in transactions made online the day after their victories.

Thats according to programmatic solutions provider myThings, which analysed data from 15 June to 14 July covering over 500m unique users on more than 200 eCommerce sites. And losses have the opposite effect, it seems. After its early victories, online spending in host nation Brazil increased nine per cent. But after the country was knocked out of the tournament, spending dropped 17 per cent.
