Instagram has expanded 'Stories', its Snapchat-style slideshows which disappear 24 hours after sending, with new features.
The biggest addition is 'See More' links, which enables verified accounts – like celebrities, publications or brands – to add hyperlinks to their Stories for the first time, which can be tapped to view in a browser or swiped to view in-app.
This is currently limited to a trial, though whether it's Instagram's intention to expand beyond verified accounts remains unclear.
Launching generally, 'mentions' in Stories work the same was as in captions and comments – users can type '@' with a username to tag a person or business, which will then notify them. Viewers who tap the mention will be taken to that person's profile in a pop-up.
The final addition to Stories is 'Boomerang', a recording mode which stitches together a burst of photos into a mini video that loops forward and backward.
