LogMeIn Offers Enterprise Solution

Remote desktop access software company LogMeIn has launched a secure device-management solution for iPads and iPhones in the enterprise space.

Designed for workers who use iOS devices as part of their job, LogMeIns solution is delivered through the companys existing technology – LogMeIn Central, a management suite; and LogMeIn Ignition, the companys remote access app – the solution allows organisations to enable and manage secure access to corporate information through mobile devices.

Organisations can implement policies to control whats being accessed, by whom, and from what device, while providing device owners with mobile access benefits beyond simple email and calendar functions, says the company.

“This service represents a key step forward in LogMeIns mobile innovation,” says Andrew Burton, LogMeIn VP of access and management. “By combining the benefits of LogMeIn Ignition with visibility and control over how employees access their applications and data, organisations can expand the benefits of mobility to all their users, whether individuals bring their own iPads to the workplace or the iPads are provided to them.”

The service will initially be available for iOS devices, with an Android version “in the works” according to LogMeIn. Initially, the solution will offer a feature set that includes the ability to enrol individually owned or IT procured iOS devices into an organisations mobile inventory, authorise individual iOS devices for remote access to one or more company computers, and manage remote access rights and permissions by user, computer, and mobile device.

The solution will also offer security features such as the ability to wipe devices lost or stolen, and the ability to control whether files can be transferred to or from mobile devices and computers.

A preview of the access control service is available here, with general availability to follow.
