London Councils Launches Circle Personal Safety App

Circle London Personal Safety AppLondon Councils has launched a personal safety app, built by Xantura, to enable people to stay connected with friends and family, if they find themselves in a difficult or vulnerable situation.

Circle is aimed at women aged between 18 and 30 in London. It enables people to easily connect with friends and family when out-and-about in the city by tapping to check-in with loved ones – so they know you are safe.

Cllr Lib Peck, London Councils’ executive member for crime and public protection, said: “Women’s safety is an issue at the top of the agenda for boroughs. Circle is an innovative, accessible and user-friendly app which will reinforce the work already being done by councils to keep their residents safe.”

The video campaign for the app has been created by Things Unlimited. It stars YouTube vlogger Hannah Witton – known for discussing taboo topics in relation to women – and shows young people socialising in London.

“London is a fantastic, thriving place to live, and work in and we are delighted to have Hannah’s support in helping councils keep Londoners connected and safe to their circle of friends or family while they are enjoying the city,” Peck added.

Things Unlimited senior campaign manager, Abigail Patience, said: “It’s great to be supporting such an innovative app with our creative campaign, especially during the party season, and knowing we’re helping people enjoy the festivities whilst staying safe and connected with their friends.”

The app is available for free download on both Play Store and App Store.
