Love isan SMS

Britains young, and not so young, romantics turned to their mobiles in droves to tell their loved ones what they thought of them on Valentines Day, sending 120 million  text messages. That figure was topped only by that for the New Year period, when 165 million texts were sent.

The statistics come from the Mobile Data Association (MDA), which says that 3
billion texts were sent during January. A total of 32 billion person-to-person text messages were sent during 2005, and the MDA is maintaining its prediction that the total for 2006 will be 36.5 billion.
