Mastercard has partnered with Turkish mobile retail firm Getir to integrate Masterpass – Mastercard’s digital wallet and mobile payments platform – into Getir’s bot on Facebook Messenger in Turkey.

With this ‘first use’ of Masterpass through a bot on Messenger, customers can chat with Getir’s bot on Messenger ‘in a natural, conversational way’ to choose products, place an order and make payments without having to leave Messenger.

“We see consumer expectation changes very rapidly. Consumers want secure simple yet seamless shopping experience through whichever platform they are using. We work to foresee these trends and fulfill consumer needs providing secure payment option anywhere they like, be it physical, online or mobile,” said Yi?it Ça?layan, head of business development and product sales at Mastercard.

“With our new partnership, consumers can now place order from Getir’s bot for Messenger and pay with Masterpass without leaving the chat screen. We are proud to announce that Masterpass, presenting real seamless shopping on bots, is firstly implemented in Turkey.”

Getir, launched in 2015, delivers over 600 everyday items in an average of 10 minutes throughout Istanbul. It claims to have made more than 1m deliveries since its launch.
