Industry veteran takes PubMatic CMO role
PubMatic has appointed Jeff Hirsch to the role of chief marketing officer. Hirsch has over 30 years’ industry experience, having held multiple executive roles, including president/CEO of data technology company AudienceScience, president of CPXi, founder and CRO of Fastclick, and most recently CMO at SundaySky.

“Jeff and I first worked together when he was the CEO of AudienceScience and I was president of Digital at Time Inc.,” said PubMatic president, Kirk McDonald. Carbone heads for OnePoint
Mobile survey firm OnePoint Global has appointed Rick Carbone as corporate advisor and interim chief financial officer for all OnePoint Global entities worldwide. He also becomes a member of the Global Senior Management Team, responsible for managing the financial operations of the company and in charge of the OnePoint Global accounting function. The appointment is a direct result of OnePoint Global’s significant growth this year and plans for further growth over the next three years, as the market research world goes mobile.

Carbone has spent the majority of his career in the market research industry working for some of the largest global market research agencies. He has been CFO for North America at TNS, CFO Americas at Synovate, and CFO at Lieberman Research Worldwide. He has spent the last couple of years in the direct marketing industry as SVP operations at Harte Hanks.

“Rick joins OPG at an exciting time and we will certainly benefit from his significant experience and background in the market research sector,” said OnePoint Global’s CEO, Neil Jessop.

AddApptr promotes Couécou in Paris
Mobile ad firm AddApptr is expanding its Paris office after a successful first half of the year. Pierre Couécou, who previously worked on expanding business in the country as business development manager for France, has been named director, France and will lead a growing team providing more support for French app publishers. The company also plans to add hires in business development, IT and key account management in Hamburg in the second half of the year.

Baxter takes the reins at Initiative
Mat Baxter has been appointed Global CEO of media agency Initiative, with the incumbent, Jim Elms, taking over the role as chairman.

In September 2015, Baxter was named global chief strategy and creative officer at parent company, IPG Mediabrands. In this role, he led the global launch of the network’s ‘Dynamic By Design’ positioning and brand redesign, and helped launch the D100, a ranking of the world’s top 100 dynamic brands. Mat has been part of the leadership team at IPG Mediabrands since 2010.

He said: “The opportunity to take an agency like Initiative and reshape it to best serve our clients and our people is a dream come true for me. Initiative is ideally positioned for growth and innovation – it has the all the capabilities and resources of a large full-service agency, but is nimble enough to allow for flexibility in how we service our clients.”

Voda makes two senior AMAP hires
Vodafone Group has appointed Serpil Timuray as chief commercial operations and strategy officer and Vivek Badrinath as his successor as chief executive for the Groups Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific (AMAP) region. The appointments are effective 15 October. Timuray will remain on the Group Executive Committee and Vivek Badrinath will join the Committee. Both will report to Vodafone group chief executive, Vittorio Colao.

Timuray has been chief executive of the AMAP region and a member of the Group Executive Committee since January 2014. She joined Vodafone as chief executive of Vodafone Turkey in January 2009 and was previously general manager of Danone Turkey from 2002-2008. She began her career in 1991 in marketing at Procter & Gamble.

Badrinath joins Vodafone Group from the international hospitality group AccorHotels where he is the deputy chief executive, responsible for marketing, digital solutions, distribution and information systems. He was previously deputy chief executive with Orange and has a long career in telecommunications and technology. Prior roles include executive director responsible for Oranges Business Services division, leadership of Oranges global networks and operators division and CTO r for Oranges mobile activities.

TMW engages Coggans
Customer engagement agency TMW Unlimited has poached SapientNitro associate creative director Jamie Coggans to work across its award-winning Unilever account.

Coggans joins the agency in the same role and will be partnered with Jeff Bowerman, the creative director behind its ‘Bigger Issues’ campaign, which scored a Cannes Lions Creative and Data Silver for Unilever-owned Lynx and UK suicide charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). He will also work across the agency’s other accounts, particularly on bigger integrated and digital projects, and reports into chief creative officer Graeme Noble.

Coggans has created campaigns for brands and clients including BSkyB, McLaren Automotive, Bacardi, Capital One, Comfort, Speedo Sculpture and Callaway. Previously he was senior and lead copywriter for Metia and Tag Worldwide respectively. His awards haul includes honours from W3, the DADIs, Social Buzz, AME, Creativity International and The New York Festival.
