MWC – Were Off

Greetings from a beautifully sunny Barcelona, where the Mobile Marketing team has decamped en masse for the industry’s annual jamboree.

Mobile World Congress has a new home this year of course, and some notable absentees among the exhibitors. There’s no BlackBerry, for example, which is particularly surprising given the firm’s recent BB10 launch, and desperate need to reinvent itself. And just as surprising, no Google. From one of the standout stands last year to nothing this time round. And no sign of Eric Schmidt on the conference agenda either.

We’ll be doing our best to bring you all the big news from the show, while at the same time catching up with some of the companies and the people – some well known, some just starting out – who make this industry tick, or who have plans to in the near future.

Away from the main event, there’s plenty more going on too. We have a full day of it tomorrow, when we are running a Mobile Brand Masterclass in the morning, the final of our Barca Starta competition in the late afternoon, and our Mobile Marketing Mixer networking party in the evening.

If you’re out in Barcelona, keep a lookout for our latest print edition. You can pick up a free copy from one of the networking lounges on the show floor. And if you’re not, do the next best thing and stay tuned to the site for all the news coming out of the show.
