PERFORM Launches Soccer Apps

Digital sports company PERFORM is launching 16 smartphone apps for some of the leading clubs across the Premier League, Football League and Scottish Premier League for the 2010/-11 domestic season, on behalf of FL Interactive. The Premier League clubs include Aston Villa West Ham, Blackburn and Birmingham City.

The apps will launch initially for the iPhone, with versions for Ovi, Vodafone 360 and Android due in the coming months. Each app costs £2.39 to download, then £2.39 per month, £6.49 for three months, or £24.99 a year thereafter.

The apps offer video highlights and interviews, live scores and minute-by-minute text updates and goal flashes on match days, as well as audio commentary, news, fixtures, league tables, club stats and interviews.

“The launch of this suite of applications highlights the growing demand from sports fans for smartphone enabled content,” says PERFORM director of mobile, Daryn Wober. “PERFORM believes that by working with official sports rights owners we can create compelling media rich mobile services utilising exclusive video and audio content. The Spurs application launched earlier in the year has already surpassed 20,000 downloads.”
