android-buyable-pins-lifestyleSocial blogging platform Pinterest has rolled out its successful Buyable Pins feature to Android, along with launching its first ever dedicated Shop page that aims to highlight products from large brands and small boutiques alike.

The Buyable Pins feature has proved popular with both marketers and users of the platform in its iOS form, having recently doubled the number of pins available to brands up to 60m and launched partnerships with a new wave of fashion and design firms. While the feature is still only available to users in the US, the speed of the rollout suggests that a global expansion will surely follow.

The Pinterest Shop marks a significant departure for the service, which had previously focused on enabling users to build their own collections of images, videos and links. The Shop will provide users with collections curated by staff members broken down to product families such as jewellery, bedding, denim or scarves.

These collections will be updated daily, and will encompass products from big brands like Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, as well as smaller boutiques that are exclusively available online through Pinterest. The Shop will be rolled out to iOS and Android at the same time, with users able to access it through Pinterests Explore tab.
