Pinterest Launches Mobile-first Buyable Pins

Pinterest buyablePinterest has launched buyable Pins, a way to buy products directly from the social network, on iOS.

Initially rolling out in the US, Pinterest says 30m of its posts will become buyable in the next few weeks, with participating brands including Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

These buyable posts will appear at the top of search results, where they can be filtered by price. In the users feed, they will be highlighted with a blue price icon, which when tapped gives the user the choice of paying with Apple Pay or a credit card, all handled in-app.

If users only want to see items they can buy, a new Shop category will exclusively display buyable Pins.

As well as iOS, Pinterest says it will be bringing buyable Pins to Android and desktop at an unspecified point in the future.
