Red Bend Secures Update Patents

Red Bend Software has been issued with two new patents by the United States Patent and Trade Mark Office. The patents cover revertible and failsafe features of Red Bends already patented in-place update methods used for managing software on mobile devices. Both features improve the user experience and enable Red Bends customers to reduce support costs and increase service revenues.
U.S. patent number 7,587,433, issued on 8 September 2009, provides a method for revertible updating. It enables the use of the same update file for both updating the device to a new version and for reverting to the previous version, without the need to download a downgrade file. This reduces both memory and transport cost requirements as well as allows the cancellation of an in-progress update.
U.S. patent number 7,599,970 issued on 6 October 2009, provides a method for failsafe in-place updating. It enables the correct resumption of an interrupted update with no additional storage requirements. This feature ensures 100% completion of the update process and eliminates the risk of rendering devices disabled, which might cause substantial damages in operation costs and brand name.
Red Bend continues to innovate and break the boundaries of whats possible with managing mobile software, says Founder and CTO, Sharon Peleg. The addition of these two patents further demonstrates Red Bends leadership through innovation in mobile software management.
In addition to the US, Red Bend has been granted patents in Australia, Canada, Korea, Singapore, India and China.
