Regent Street App Promotes Bowie Exhibition

Denis_ORegan_BowieFFPThe Regent Street app is hosting an immersive in-app gallery experience to promote the David Bowie: Fame, Fashion, Photography exhibition currently taking place nearby, enabling users who cannot make it in person to experience some of the iconic images of the music legend.

David Bowie: Fame, Fashion, Photography aims to honour the extraordinary career of one of the music industrys biggest stars with a free exhibition, curated by the V&A and hosted in a pop-up gallery on the street where David Bowie was photographed for the cover of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars, his breakthrough album released in 1972.

Regent Street is using its app to display the entire collection of images, taken by noted photographers Denis ORegan, Chalkie Davies and Tony McGee. The pictures are accompanied by audio commentary from the photographers describing the stories behind these unique portraits, and the app also delivers exclusive, personalised content to shoppers based on their interests.

The exhibition, which runs until 19 June, also offers visitors the chance to buy limited edition, hand-numbered catalogues for the images, and an auction is being held for prints of the photos, with all proceeds from both going to Cancer Research UK.

The Regent Street app provides retailers, restaurants and bars along the so-called Mile of Style with a beacon-enabled mobile channel to reach consumers and provide them with tailored content regarding new products, upcoming events and exclusive offers.

Don’t forget to enter the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards. Early Bird deadline: 22 July. More details here.
