Royal Caribbeans Snapchat Spectacles lens takes user on an underwater journey

Royal Caribbean SnapchatCruise company Royal Caribbean has introduced a Snapchat Spectacles lens that takes users under the sea – to quote Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

With the ‘SeaSeekers’ scuba mask lens, the Spectacles wearer is able to take a snap ‘underwater’ to provide others with a unique look at the world below the water’s surface.

With the lens, wearers can take part in three dives seen through the eyes of three well-known divers. Users can take a dive with Mexican marine wildlife photographer and conservationist Roberto Ochoa in Cozumel, Mexico; explore the coral reef restoration project with marine biologist Gabriela Nava; and join free diver Ashleigh Baird on her visit to the Great Blue Hole in Belize.

“The SeaSeeker will enable all adventure-seekers to get a front-row seat to the thrilling adventures found underwater in a way that has never been possible before,” said Jim Berra, CMO and SVP of marketing at Royal Caribbean International. “Snapchat continues to be a favourite channel for curious travellers and is the ideal platform for this first-of-its-kind undersea exploration. We are excited to find an innovative way to use the Snapchat Spectacles with our SeaSeeker mask so that we can bring the underwater experience to our guests as they visit the incredible destinations we sail to. We’ve even taken the added step of applying for a patent for the SeaSeeker mask so that we can bring it to our guests exclusively.”

Fans can follow along with the snaps by following Royal Caribbean’s Snapchat channel or by searching other social platforms with the #SeekDeeper hashtag.
