Samsung and Sky Bolster Rugby Partnership with Near-live Video Tweets

Release Image CopySamsung has partnered with Sky to sponsor the channels Twitter coverage of Englands QBE International matches, providing near-live video clips to those following the match on the social network.

The digital content-led campaign will cover all four of Englands matches, which begin on 8 November. Samsung are also sponsoring a digital hub on Sky Sports website during the coverage.

The campaign is using Twitter Amplify to extend the reach, promoting the tweets to new audiences in addition to Sky Sports 2.6m Twitter followers. The video content of the tweets will include highlights from the matches presented in near-real-time, as well as promotion for Samsungs new Galaxy Note 4.

“We are thrilled that our partnership with the RFU can be taken to the next level in a UK first for Sky with Twitter,” said Russell Taylor, vice president of corporate marketing at Samsung UK & Ireland. “Samsung has long been committed to sport and we take pride in bringing fans closer to their passions and creating unforgettable experiences through technology. Fans will have access as the game unfolds, be that at Twickenham, on a tablet while watching the match at home, or anywhere on their mobile device.”

“Its great to be able to offer this exciting new digital opportunity to Samsung, and were delighted they are on board,” said David Fisher, head of futures at Sky Media. “WEre always looking to break ground with new ways to engage our clients and Sky Sports fans, and Englands Internationals are the highlight of the autumn rugby calendar as part of Skys biggest-ever month of international rugby.”
