St Pancras Launches Retail App

St Pancras stationLondons St Pancras International station has launched a retail app, StP.

Developed in partnership with Paythru and Javelin Group, StP combines station information – including indoor navigation and real-time travel information – with targeted offers and mobile payment capabilities.

Participating retailers – which so far include Bsix, Rituals and BHRC – will be able to reach consumers with offers for their stores within the station based on the users preferences, as set within the app, and on their location, using 150 Bluetooth Low-energy beacons installed in the station. Eurostar passengers will also be able to claim offers for the Paris leg of their journey.

“This sort of technology is revolutionary for a train station and we are proud that St Pancras International continues to lead the way in travel retail,” said Wendy Spinks, commercial director of HS1, which owns St Pancras. “Not only will the app be invaluable to locals and tourists alike, it will also showcase the range of retail outlets that are on offer in a new exciting digital format.”

The launch of StP follows St Pancras installation of high-speed public wi-fi, which began in June last year, and promises capacity for as many as 7,000 users streaming HD content simultaneously once fully rolled out.
