Text Record Falls Again

The total number of text messages sent in the UK during September soared to over 3.7 billion, breaking all previous records. This is an increase of 100 million on the previous highest total, recorded in August, according to figures provided by the Mobile Data Association (MDA).
The figure represents an average of 123 million messages being sent per day throughout September, an increase of 30% on September 2005. As the third quarter of 2006 drew to a close, the total of messages sent so far this year had reached 29 billion. The MDA is predicting a total of 40 billion messages for the year.
The MDA has produced a list of the most popular messaging services available. You can see the list here.
